strategy

Does anyone have any advice for winning at Quoridor.

Of course you should keep practicing, but are there any things to look out for?

Basically I want to start a discussion about strategy for quoridor

My game improved when I realized it was just as important to block my retreat as it was to block the opponent's advance. Meaning if I got close to the goal, use my fences to make sure my only legal path to the goal was forward, not back the way I came.
