General guidelines for Swedish translations

Post by Queen Michael »

I've noticed that some Swedish translations here are not as good as they could be. So here are some guidelines I think we could all use. (Please chime in if you have more guidelines, or want to help improve these ones!)
  • Let's translate "End of game" into "Partiet är över" or something else that sounds equally natural. It's often translated into "Spelets slut," which sounds a bit awkward.
  • In general, let's try to choose informal phrasings. Less "Vänligen välj bricka" and more "Var snäll och välj en bricka".
  • Make sure to use the right pronoun. Don't write "Han" when you mean "sin".
  • Don't be afraid to rephrase things if that makes a text work better.
