Main sequence of Animal/Animal games?

Post by ufm »

There are two pieces of generic information written on every Animal card: its class and food type.
Since players can read them directly from the cards and they are not arbitrary, I think many clue givers clue class first, and then food type.
Does any other dominant strategy exist?

But to said it's a 'dominant strategy', doesn't that fail when the hinter has no card of that type?

So yeah it's a good strategy, but I don't think it should be called dominant.

Negative clue (horizontal placement) is also possible.

I was focusing on the food types early, but the more I play it seems that after pegging the class of animal people focus more on the size and appearance of the animals rather than the food type.

As a data point, I never really look at the written info, other than out of curiosity the first time I see a deck. My strategy tends to be to try to eliminate outliers first and save clues that can eliminate several cards for later. Common groups are mammal/bird/other, predator/prey, large/small, wild/farm.
