It would be nice to "program" Census either.
Archers show/don't show; Mages show/don't show and so on.

Thank you!
I agree!

This is definitely needed. I would have it in the regular version as well with the 2 options.
Option 1 - Manual Census -- do things like they are now. Have to click to show how many unit you want to display, even if you have zero.
Option 2 - Auto Census -- Always display your maximum number of units.
Even better would be it you could specify in advance how you would handle the threats if you arrive there first

Why not a regular census or programmed census? Regular is as it is today for people who want to stay to the letter of the existing rules. Programmed simply gives you a set of options for each type of unit. A dropdown for each type of unit would allow you to pick how many of that unit you want to show. By default it would be set to show everything, but if you hit a button you could get it to switch them all to zero. But you could pick any specific number for a given type.
Then you hit a button to commit your settings. You only had one simultaneous turn at the start of each census, you still got full control over what was shown, those who want to show everything can hit one button and they're done. Plus, because you set them all at the start of the turn, there's never any clue whether a user chose to show zero units or actually had zero. The only loss is that rare occasion where you would adjust your later units upon seeing what someone else revealed and those who care about that could go with the existing method.

Could anyone explain how maintenance of this game is done? Does the source code exist in a public repository somewhere like Github or Gitlab where I might work on it myself? I certainly know HTML, CSS, and JavaScript well and I'm sure I could puzzle my way through any PHP or anything similar that might be in there.
It couldn't be that hard to fix this if we can get the source.

You need to create an account on BGA Studio
http://en.studio.boardgamearena.com/#!welcomestudio
then ask admins (e.g. sourisdudesert) to give you access to source code.

Hi
This is not exactly how BGA studio work. Every project (game) on studio has an admin (or more), who is the (main) developper of the game. For Lords of Xidit, this is Pierre,
pikiou. So you need to ask
him (not the admins, at least not at first) if he is ok to give you access to source code. You can also ask him if he would be ok to code this change himself.

I checked out the creator of the version we're playing and sent a message about this thread today. Hopefully we can work out something.
