Thanks for starting an interesting discussion.
I just discovered Amyitis recently and really like it. I am surprised it does not have better reputation as it has quite a lot of depth and player interaction (i.e. everything is visible so you can always anticipate what your opponents are going to do and try to screw their plans while achieving your own). I wish there were more players around to play it as this game does not get a lot of love. I have not managed to do a 3p game for exemple although all the good players tell me it is the best way to play it.
I have just started Assyria too and it looks very promising.
With regards to unexpected depth and replayability, Hanabi is amazing but again i don't think it would fall into the underrated category.
I will check out NW passage following the comments above.
