I want to give shoutout to the French player Romain672 who was 1st for much of the time of the contest. I think he was still first in the beginning of November. I was curious and checked his history then - he was not try harding this at all. He was playing all kinds of other games and only occasionally a Legendary Inventors game. But he was so consistently getting top results that his ELO was high above the competition.

It would have been quite the story if he won, with only very few games played, compared to other contestants, but played really well.

EDIT: I just noticed Romain672 talked about what happened on his page "about me" field. Here's what he says:
"
About the inventor :
- I think i'm one of the person who understand the more fast the game, and be able to often win ;
- then, after about one week, other players become good, and start to focus me when i was at ~1900elo ;
- and then, finally, the other top player start to understand how to won point with series, who increased the number of point needed, and finally they was just more good than me (except if i'm really unlucky (or lucky at the start) but i don't think so)
"

Kudos to BGA for the contest. It was super fun, and I really enjoyed being able to beta test a new game and learn it on the fly with everyone else in the world. I think the idea was awesome!

(@makkuu : i just stopped Saturday because my elo was too low for get a good place :P
But i tryharded like others players, i would have stop the game after one more victory at 1950 elo :P
My elo for the inventor stay really strange, by winning many game at the start, and loose many game after 1.5 week.)

Anyway, it stayed really fun for me, and i knew (by the post forum and other player who discuss with me) that many players checked regulary my profil :P
And for the competition, the general atmosphere stayed friendly so it's nice :P

I had such a great time playing this game the past two weeks.
What a fun game that I got to experience with so many people on this site, and I am just so happy that I got to finish in the top 3 :D

it was a nice contest and convinced me to learn the game , because I knew these kind of contests attract a lot of people to play.
And that means : fast startings (in the waiting room) with equal players and a lot of fun.
Every new game that is launched on bga should have such a contest.
Leg. Inv. is a good game but not a cracker ! :-)

Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to BGA and Bombyx! Even though I was nowhere near the top, I had a lot of fun with this contest. The sheer number of games going on and amount of interest in the game was great!

I would second the idea of having a playoff for any future contests: it would be amazing to have a huge community of spectators for the final match.

Congrats to the winners! What a nice prize.

I never participated because I'm slow at reading rules and don't have the time availability to try to learn a game that fast, but it did draw my interest. There's some other games I've been wanting to learn but I ended up pulling this out instead and read the rules finally the other night and started into a game. So regardless of the contest, it drew some attention. :D
