It is fairly well established that typing in all caps is yelling and obnoxious. https://newrepublic.com/article/117390/ ... de-yelling

Additionally, even if English is not your native tongue, it is fairly easy to get English spell-checkers for forum posts.

intrepid/fuonlynu, please just stop.
You got to 30% max because you got lot's of red thumbs, just like anyone would if they got a lot of red thumbs. The same rules apply to all players.
If you don't want to get a bad reputation, be nicer to people and you won't get so many red thumbs.

Een /administrator/moderator.A perfect example of a discussion were 2 opinions are jaw- ing
,then like allways the person calls me a name ,which is rude and insulting and BGA DOES NOTHIN ABOUT IT EXCEPT PUNISH ME.I was pointing out a huge flaw in that a person that gets red thumbed or reported is not necessarily wrong.Try moderation not just siding with one.It takes two to fight or disagree.the only difference is I don't red thumb and just twice reported anybody. The last time I reported someone he swear at me ,BGA did NOTHING. EXCEpT TOOK MY VOICE AWAY nOTE I WILL ALLWAYS have a voice as long as bga chooses to do what is wrong and either respect other opinions without being punished.bga has a discuss button and a forum one like me should not be punished for my opinion.i don't swear or cuss therefore don't take there side ,bga should be neutral when it comes to opinions.again trying to help this site not hurt it P.S sorry AGAIN TO TAKE UP SO MUCH OF YOUR VALUABLE TIME .eEN/ADMINISTRATOR/MODERATOR

Probably people think that you punish BGA. Be more patient and more polite. It's not so hard for the most of players not to receive a lot of red thumbs.

RED THUMBS UNFOrTUNATELY ARE NOT USED IN CORRECT MANNER.THE TRuth is neither polite ,a opinion its not insulting or aggressive its the truth.they are a weapon used inproperly. Now were getting off the subject that I started .BGA is not as of yet administered reputation correctly, this is not///not a opinion its the truth,i should not have to report this or talk in forum about it.if bga wants rules then they must do it correctly or not do it at all.bga has not once tried with me to resolve this issue which makes me.if I was punishing bga which I cant I wouldn't be a ardent paying supporter of there site

Being right and wrong is not the point of the red thumbs. If you are mean about being right then you deserve the red thumb. If more than 20% of people give you a red thumb because you were mean to them then it is a fair to let other players know that you are mean by reducing your reputation.

It seems you need to learn how to converse civilly with others...the average person on here has less than 2% red thumbs (probably less than 1%) which means you've gotten more than 10x as many red thumbs as the average player...ever think the problem is the way you interact with others instead of blaming every single person you interact with?

lets try this the truth is neither being mean or not .some playes depending on there opinion is mean or not.again red thumps should not be given because of there opinion.so what your saying its ok to offend me because 98 or 99 percent are this way.wrong and again wrong.the truth is the truth nothin else if ,I or others state the truth I'm sorry the truth hurts many.also what you are saying is I don't converse with others properly.again I respect your opinion but I don't red thumb you.i also could consider your opinion insulting or aggressive or your really trying to help which is what I believe I'm doing.this is pointless I am a contributor financially and with helping others.bga again has to step back because for over 2 years mow I have complained with others.this is not saying I don't appreciate bda site and hard work.

Actually red thumbs have niether in common with truth. They mean that people don't want to play with you. They don't want to play with you and give you red thumbs. Other people can use opinions of these people to decide not to play with you too. It's logic. If you disappoint large percent of people than there is a great chance that you disappoint a random person too.

P.S. people go to BGA to play games and have fun, not to know truth or what you think is truth.

fine don't play with me but there lies the problem.im top 3 in wins and games played in the game of hearts.but what many do is play to beat me which is o.k but when they lose they red thumb me again.red thumbs just don't hurt I still play some like playing with me some don't.P.S EXACTLY THE GAMES ARE FOR FUN AND BGA HAS TRIED VERY HARD to take away the fun of the game which a huge part is communicating with whom u play
but if in the opinion if one thinks someone is aggressive or opinionated /insulted they try to crucify ya.instead of disagreeing try looking at perfect players reputation which I not attacking any particular player ive been asking bga to do there job a huge issue that the rules are not being applied to all not even close p.s//p.s as u can see my typing and my message is unclear to a lot of people but should I be red thumbed for that. keep it simple no name calling swearing. Opinions are opinions.

This is totally wrong, and I'm sorry if the truth hurts you, but the system works like this :
- Each player has a number of "karma points", which is an integer between 0 and 100 (included)
- When a player quits (or is kicked from) a game, he loses 10 karma points (this cannot go into negatives if he has less than 10). This loss is doubled if the player had already quit a game recently (less than 3 months before). This loss is cancelled for the first ever quit of a BGA account.
- When a player does not join a tournament game he registered for, he loses 4 points. (I think the same penalty is applied if he quits this tournament game).
- When a player finishes a game correctly, without overtime, he gains 1 karma point (this cannot reach more than 100)
- If a player has more than 10% of red thumbs (I'm not sure if this is the "number of red / number of green" or the "number of red / (number of red+green)" ratio), then its maximum karma points is 60 instead of 100.
- If a player has more than 20% of red thumbs, then its maximum karma points is 30 instead of 100.
- Karma points are a public information, and players may restrict access to their tables to other players having more than X karma points.
- Those rules are applied the exact same way to every player on BGA

In the previous system, percentage of quits among recent games, as well as red thumbs ratio, were public information.
Players were able to restrict table access to people with :
- less than 10% quits
- less than 20% quits
- a red thumb ratio less than 10%
- a red thumb ratio less than 20%

The current system is similar to the old one, because :
- if you have more than 10% red thumb, you cannot have more than 60 karma, and restricting a table to karma > 65 will keep such players out
- if you have more than 20% red thumb, you cannot have more than 30 karma, and restricting a table to karma > 50 will keep such players out
- if you have more than 10% quits among recent games AND have a high enough number of recent games, your karma points will go down, and thus restricting a table to karma > X will eventually (after the "serial quitter" has played enough games) keep such players out.
In case you would not understand the last remark, here is how this works :
10% quits means at least one quit for every 9 other games finished. This means such a player will lose 10 points for every 9 points he gains, thus his karma will always decrease (at least -1 every 10 games), and he will not be able to have a perfect karma. The more games he played while keeping a >10% quit rate, the more his karma will go down. And if he plays often enough, the loss will be 20 for most quits, thus at least -11 karma for every 10 games.
Note : this may be different for tournament games.

So this was the truth, the system is equal, and is not bugged, every player who has the same proportion of quits, proportion of red thumbs, and number of recent games will (eventually) have the same karma.

You can say that you don't like this system. You can say that you preferred the old one, and don't like the fact the red thumbs and quits have been "merged" into a single karma system. You can think that red thumb are more punishing that quits.
But saying that this system is not equal to all players is FALSE.

In my opinion (this may not be the truth), you are just upset because of your low karma due to red thumbs. So you blame the system with empty accusations.
The players you talk about, having several recent quits, did lose karma points (that is a fact), but they just got their karma points back by finishing games correctly after that. And if you quit a game, then finish 10 (or 20 if you're a recidivist) games, you will too get your karma back. And the same is true for every player.
And if you're sad/upset because your karma cannot go above 60/30 points no matter how many games you finish and how few games you quits, that is because of your red thumb ratio. Any player with the same red thumb ratio will have the same karma limitation. And player with a smaller red thumb ratio will not have these limitations, and will be able to get back to 100 karma even after their karma dropped because of quits, just by finishing many games.

Finally, my advice to you is : try to be nicer and more polite to people. This way, other players will probably give you green thumbs. With more green thumbs, your red thumbs ratio will decrease, and your karma limitation will disappear. Eventually, you should be able to get to 100 karma, just like any player can.
