dKFAF's ELO has been reset to 1500. Just took me some time, I don't usually do this and had to ask sourisdudesert how to proceed.
Not sure if I should disable 'First player is inspector' until a solution has been put in place or just reset the ELO of anyone caught using this unfair trick. Thoughts?

the solution of sprockitz seems a good solution (but maybe complex to add?)...

It is to have an ELO relative to type of play (i.e: set of game options)
in options let's consider also : nb of players

It has also the advantage to care about the difference between Solo mode and others :)

maybe a transition table "EloOptions" with the links Game / Elo TAble

The idea of splitting Elo for some game options was already discussed on this forum. sourisdudesert was strongly disagree with this.
In fact in some games turn-based players have advantage and can score greater Elo than real-time players. Also some games have very different set of options. But the point is the site will not be look good with a lot of leaderboards.

I think you did not understood each other. The ELO would be relative to type of play and THEN we get to see only one ELO with them.

So you propose to create a mix 50% Inspector ELO + 50% Killer ELO?
Maybe they agree with this and we will see this feature realized one day.

splitting the ELO between games played as inspector and games played as killer makes no sense. barring random luck, the inspector will have a 0% win rate, the killer will have a 100% win rate. so it doesn't matter how you allocate ELO between the 2 roles as long as the game play remains unbalanced.

didn't play this game myself but I heard an inspector have 4-10% chance to win if a killer plays right.

I'm glad that dKFAF had his ELO taken away - thank you for that.

With regards to ELO, I don't like the idea of assigning it differently for winning as inspector or killer. The best way to fix this game is for the developer to change the rules so that the inspector has a fair chance of winning.

This game has so much potential. It's quick, easy to learn, and fun. I love light, casual games that I can play in less than 15 minutes. I think this game would be more popular if the rules were changed (I noticed that there are rarely tables created for it). I don't play this game that much anymore, nor have I bought the game, because of the imbalances. While I understand that most games have slight imbalances, Noir KVI's are impossible to overcome.

This game deserves more love, and I agree on your points, except for one: it's still worth buying.
a) There is much more than presented on BGA: 2 more 2-player modes and 3 multiplayet modes, for a total of 6 different games! I have yet to try some of the modes myself, but I can tell you that Sleuth vs Hitman is even better than Killer vs Inspector and it looks much more balanced. Some of multiplayer modes look really good too, with team vs team and team vs one aspects and a ton of different roles.
b) It's much easier to apply balancing homerules for our own copies than to get them implemented on BGA. There is a discussion on BGG about possible fixes, I'm fairly certain at least some of those should work.

c) Playing a physical copy is always more fun!

As for playing the game here as is... One doesn't need balance and ELO to have fun. It is also a good manner to offer change sides to your opponent. Hell, this can be an actual game option - play for 2 rounds, once for each side, have some tiebraker (number of turns?) and determine winner based on that. Balance fixed!

Its not impossible to win as Inspector. You guys just need to develop strategies and you'll be fine
