Please, Liallan, re-read my post too then. ;) Though if you both are turn-based only players - then maybe our misunderstanding lies in this difference. When you are around the table in the moment of starting the game (from the moment of joining to the moment of start = clicking to accept) you see the message about any change in the game settings in table-chat window.
Obviously from my experience I can't say much about how it affects turn-based games (due to the difference in the game start moment - you don't have to be online when it starts). Maybe that's more problematic than I can see - I never needed it so I assumed that settings can't be changed after creating turn-based table. So if the olly's suggestion concerns only turn-based games, I guess I would agree.
People aren't just sitting there staring at tables all the time.
Neither am I, usually (though I admit that my games often start soon). But that doesn't mean that I cannot check what happened when I was not around - I think that's pretty normal to check it, that's just one look - to the settings or to the chat - and it lets noone be disappointed; and usually I am curious what people said meanwhile anyway.

Um, I did read your post. That's why I asked where do you see these changes. You only said you see it, but not exactly what you are seeing.

People may not know that changes are in the chat. That's not the kind of thing I would expect to find in a chat, and I would even say I don't think that's really where it belongs. In fact, I quite often ignore the chat because the thing keeps popping up at me even when I've already read what is there and closed it, which is a bit annoying. I learned long ago that 98% of the time it's the same thing I just read. So I could totally see people missing that, and I'm pretty sure I could easily miss it as well. I also think that "at the moment of starting the game" is kind of pushing it, making people have to quit at the last second. Wouldn't it be nicer if they knew sooner than that so they could make a decision to leave or not? (It's even possible this does happen with the turn-based games but I have a tendency to wait to be last to take it, and the admin may very well not even be around to change anything.)

I do get that plenty of people just don't pay attention, but there's a difference between not paying attention, and not having something obvious enough.

Hi,

Thanks for raising up this issue.

Note that this only concern realtime : on turn-based we disallow option change after some players join.

I tend to agree that at now option changes are too discreet. I tend to disagree that you need an explicit confirmation from all players : there is already a "global" confirmation when you Accept to start the game.

At some point we are going to redesign entirely the current "Accept to start" screen. When doing this we will make sure that the options are very visible, so you cannot miss them before accepting the game.
