I figured that but in my Opinion it's not enough. A game vs. 3 other players is still just 1 game and not 2 games. Ok it might take take longer - in some games - to play a game with 4 players than it does with just 2. But not twice as long usually. (In games where it does take twice as long - something like Agricola (no example from the site comes to my mind) it might be ok. But many games are - like the Carcassonne example from the other thread - barely take longer at all (because it ends after a number of tiles got exhausted).
