After an initial moment of great panic (I thought you'd totally discarded the old tournament trophy images) I want to say that I like the new trophies way better than the old shields. They look nice and I also like that the background is white now instead of randomly changing color/style every time you look at a trophy. Might I suggest making the old trophy images a tad bit bigger? I think there's enough room on the new trophy to increase the display size just a little.

I would also suggest displaying ALL earned trophies. Right now it only shows a few, which means people who play lots of tournaments don't get a chance to show or even see their trophies. It can be fun looking at all of them and thinking back to the excitement of the tournament even if you're not trying to impress anyone else

Lastly, I second Silene's suggestion (above me).

Anyway, good work. I think you guys are doing a fine job redesigning the website.

I kinda appreciated the new trophies, the old ones were getting kind of stale. This was a nice change to avoid repetition. Good job!

Also, people kinda resist change, no matter whether it is good or bad. It is human's nature.

I support idea of showing all trophies. Eg, under profile and as expandable subwindow

The trophies for "1/3/5 victories" feel more rewarding than those for 10/20/50 because filled shapes are more visually satisfying that the hollow outline that's used for the latter. If you can, please switch the two design styles so that winning more results in cooler trophies?

I agree with the lack of visual distinction as far as the Elo-rank trophies are concerned. Either some more contrast in color choices is needed, or (my preference) instead you could tweak what's shown inside for each rank. Instead of the oversized graphics (that don't match the ones used in the Elo bars across the site), why not something like this 2-minute mockup?

And finally, I also agree with the notion that consistency in design is important, which led you to using the Elo-rank assigned colors for trophy progression. It's equally important, however, if not moreso, that the trophies themselves share a common "language" between them, and my personal opinion is that many players (if asked) would say that the previous design had more of that language than the current redesign.

It's nice that trophies are getting a fresh look! Hoping we can make it even better with a few tweaks

There are certainly improvements to be made on the new design.

However, this is only the first step of the trophy / metagame evolution. There are going to be a lot of steps and a lot of changes. When all the changes will be released (spoiler alert: it obviously includes new trophies), everyone will have real good overview of what is the purpose of all of these evolutions. Then, it will be a good time to do some design adjustments on trophies.

This is only if you are in your profile. When waiting in a game lobby, and you hover the mouse over the trophy, they all look the same. Thanks for the quick responses and working hard to improve BGA.

Thanks. Indeed, this is a bug, although it is just for some time as the trophy are not going to be displayed here anymore.

Anywhere else on the website (including your profile page), it's should work (with the tournament custom image visible).

So no more trophy displays while in lobby? ... Sad
