Agreed - I hadn't even played the expansions that Arena adds as I thought the consensus was they weren't very good!

Would you mind expanding on that, re: takeovers? I'm curious because the BGA community seems to be more anti- than pro-takeover, but I've always found them interesting and a number of cards in the first arc lose a lot of utility if they're disabled (which I suppose could be a reason to simply not play the first arc).RerollAgain wrote: ↑02 May 2020, 20:31 Agreed. At the very least they could have disabled takeovers. Prestige is a mess but takeovers are the true worst mechanic in my opinion. Base+TGS would be my choice for competitive.
It is not like that's the only expansion for the game, there's still AA, XI, TGS and RvI. These are all perfectly good alternatives to BoW which are arguably more competitive (Except probably for XI, I don't have that much experience with it but I still think it is probably less luck-based than BoW)Joel Marrinan wrote: ↑02 July 2020, 01:10 Personally, I love the BOW expansion and the added options for combinations, takeovers, strategies, and high-scoring games.
Yes, there's luck involved, but that's been the same since the base game and I can't stand the limited, often repetitive games that come from only using the base card.
