I like to play with people my own skill level, so if it's a first-time play for me I play with Beginners, if I'm an expert then above average. So I can't vote on this overly simplistic vote.

i think turn based is just good to give them the time to read rules and play. Newbies in real time is not good because they need to play fast.

Honestly, if a game take 1 hours in estimates in real time, then yes, but a 2 minutes game (mostly real classics), then no, why would you don<t know the rule of a basic game like connect four. Like, even in my first game i know exactly how to play (because extremely simple).
