Anyway to answer the question, I think there are three reasonable choices:
  • Show points for everyone only at the end
  • Show your points as you go, but keep others hidden
  • Keep a running total of everyone's points as the game progresses
All have merit and probably should be selectable options, but I think the default should be to keep it hidden until the end because that's the way the physical game works. Certainly Arena settings should be hidden until the end.

As I do not see this in the Alpha List, please consider adding me as I have own and played the base and expansion numerous times and know the rules very well.

Thanks for your consideration.

My one piece of feedback thus far though is to not show the total points each player has. One of the things I enjoy about GWT is that you might have an idea of how many points players have based on what they do during the game, but there’s no point tracker in the physical version which shows you exactly where they stand. I feel like for less experienced gamers seeing JUST how far behind they are can be very discouraging.
Both points of view are understandable. I suppose better players are likely to be more competitive, but newer ones might find it useful to see how certain moves affect the score. Some games bring enormous surprises (good and bad) when the scores are totted up at the end. Could it be an option of some sort in the settings?
Troyes is similar in regards to scoring. Score is tallied at end of game. I agree, keep opponent scores hidden. I am not against a toggleable option. Maybe enable show scores in a training game?

I think the difference is that Troyes has hidden scoring goals/cards. Everything in GWT is trackable. Online implementations of Concordia and Brass Lancashire both have "live" scoring, rather than only scoring at the end of the game.

For an online game, players can (and sometimes do) calculate the "live" score anyway. No sense in penalizing players who might not have as much time to do that compared to others.

I'd love to test-play this, I own the real version (and expansion) and have played and taught it many times, so know it super-well :)
