Careers and Payday

We still play most of these today. Some favorites are: Scrabble, Payday, Careers, Clue, The Game of Life, Boggle, The Winning Ticket, Risk, Kismet, Yahtzee although we play the entire sheet with some added rules, Racko, Cribbage, Battleship, Easy Money, Gambler, Bargain Hunter, Monopoly, Sequence, Shogun and Axis and Allies.

Hello TS61008 . . . what a surprise to see Bargain Hunter in your list of childhood favourites .
I didn't think there was anyone else in the world who knew about . . . played . . . loved Bargain Hunter.
We were gifted with it back in the early 1980s . . . played it a few times . . . then brought it out again in the 2000s.
It became a favourite of our young daughter . . . she would teach it to playmates . . . who had never heard of it.
Thanks for stirring up that memory.

Anyone remember a game called Bonkers from the late 70s? I still remember the theme song from the TV commercials:

"Parker Brothers' Bonkers with its funny twisted track
will send you backward to go forward and forward to go back..."

Mastermind, Memory, Battleship, Triominos, Cribbage

Boggle and Balderdash were favs, but that was as a young adult.

Such a perfect encapsulation of the 80's. Just a different theme on all of the "Truth or Dare" type of games out there at the time.

I sometimes see this at yard sales but I only knew one other kid who had it when I was growing up: Careers! Yes it's a roll & move, but there are sooo many choices! When to NOT roll, but use a numbered card instead, when to use an Opportunity card, and trading the Opp. cards. You could put together a real mitigated luck strategy of using particular career paths multiple times to gain the numbered cards then hit a big path like Sports or Space Program.

And the customized victory formula... so cool. I would buy a modernized version of this game.

My boyfriend loves this game, and still has his childhood copy of it.
