PSA: activate your Premium gift points TODAY before they expire

Where did you read about the expiration date? I didn't know it, and most of my points are gone

I noticed it by coincidence while redeeming some points a few months ago, and set a reminder. I was curious if BGA would be considerate enough to send a notification or announce it somewhere, but apparently not. So I posted it myself, so at least some people would see it.

No, gift points are only for free premium. Now I'm premium until Jul 26th 2081.

If BGA still existed then I'd assume the whole platform would be in VR.

A while back, BGA has silently added an expiration date for Premium gift points earned through contributing to the site (e.g. translating) and first wins.

Even though the deadline is tomorrow (the 2nd of December), I have not received any notification about this. I would urge everyone to check their balance and redeem the points (the free months stack): https://boardgamearena.com/contribute

In my case almost 5000 points would have been lost if I hadn't redeemed them. Not exactly appreciative of members who have put in a lot of work.

Sadly missed this, I thought older points were treated differently than new points, and had no expiration date :/
I lost 229 points because of that. I hadn't converted them to Premium yet because I thought they wouldn't expire, so I thought I could do it when I really needed Premium.
Feels disappointing, when I did most of the Portuguese translations at the time when BGA first launched in Portuguese.
I'll eventually pay for Premium, as my finances are improving, but it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. :/

Losing 2 months of Premium is annoying, but can luckily be earned back relatively quickly. I imagine some people have lost multitudes of that, with no warning whatsoever. No announcement (unless I missed this), no mail, no notification, ... Just sneakily adding an expiration date and waiting it out.

I understand BGA is not even obliged to provide any incentives, but silently withdrawing them like this is a slap in the face of many. And making points below the treshold of 100 expire is just adding insult to injury.

I just found today that some of my points expired. They never told before they had an expiration date not a single mail or notification on the website. This is totally a bad faith movement. They shouldn't do something like this retrospectively and if they do so, at least communicate so publicly. It's ok to add an expiration date but not without telling you. I'm very pissed off by this.
