There is a known bug that when you play again, it uses your last settings on lobby, instead of keeping the settings on the table you click restart.
Example :
You start a turn based game, simple mode
During this, you play a real-time arena
Your first games end, you try to play again/rematch
It will try to start it on real-time arena as it is your last lobby settings, even if you probably expect to start it with the settings used when you started that table.
There already is a report about this, I hope BGA admins will look at it somedays
(forget what I said if it's not exactly the same thing)
I found this strange, and checked, and when using "Propose to rematch" we pass the table id of the table that is being rematched to rematch it with the same players and same configuration. So maybe some very old bug? In any case, I tried starting a turn based game, playing a realtime game, then finishing the turn based one and rematching worked as expected with the turn based configuration.
If that happened in the past, I don't think this issue is still current. There is even some code to prevent rematching from using arena mode, since the principle of the arena is that you cannot choose your opponents, so the scenario you described should definitely never happen.
"Play again" with manual mode is a different thing. In that case you create a brand new table, and we reuse the configuration of the last table you created recently (if available), as a helper for setting up the table. But it can never be an arena table.

Training mode behaviour should not have been affected; the change was intended only for using "no time limit" with 'normal mode" (due to abuse).
If training mode is not preserved when rematching, it's a bug. We'll look into this for next release.
In conclusion for this:
1) I checked, and "Propose a rematch" correctly preserves training mode. So probably there was some confusion between "ranked game / no time limit" and "training mode".
2) With the next release, rematching will preserve the "playerX's friends" group and the "no time limit" option. So if this is your favourite configuration, you'll be able to rematch without having to set it again.

It's maybe only play again and not rematch. So my comment is not linked to this subject, I've mistaken both issues. If you want to know more about this Play again thing :

Thanks for the link. Indeed that's a different issue that is just about mode and not table options. For players switching modes regularly, it's true that at the moment it's something to pay attention to. It could certainly be improved with some future evolution.

So I play all my games without timer because I play with friends only. The fact that every time I ''Rematch" it defaults to a live game is REALLY annoying. I have 25-30 games going at anytime, please please please turn on some sort of function that copies the game settings when you rematch, like it did before. Please.

Rematching could be patched without waiting for a full release, so now if you rematch a game with "playerX's friends" group and "no time limit", rematching will preserve these settings.

Now in rematch, the game will not pop up in the lobby, but I only see the line 'xxx proposed a rematch'.
Lets say I play a real time fast speed game, and someone make a rematch. The game will now have speed 'undefined', and 'xxx's friends' only. It means if I leave the table, no one else but the host's friends can join. Not sure what it helps..?
and sometime the game will become no time limit and 'xxx's friends only'. the whole thing is useless to me, people making rematch just want to play a game with same setting to the previous game..

When you rematch, the settings goes into 'friends only' and i think 'unlimited time'.
So if you expulse someone, which is common thing to do with strangers (you first let them 30s/1min to join, then remove players which didn't accept), nobody will be able to join.

That was a bug linked to a further fix to prevent continued abuse using rematches. It's fixed now, sorry about that.
