Right below their name on the profile, you can see if they are online or offline. There's a little icon that additionally shows green when they are online and shows whether they are on mobile. You don't see that icon when they RTed you nor can you see the list of their games in progress

The questions are:
1. Can a player gives out red thumbs as he/she wish just because he/she don't want to play with that player? Is that considered as red thumb abuse?

Yes, they can. It's not abuse.

Note that when giving out a red thumb, people have to decide whether
(a) the other player should be avoided from everyone ("public red thumb")
or
(b) it's just a personal opinion ("private red thumb").

You cannot see which type of red thumb someone gave you. But:

(b) has no negative effect on the player receiving the red thumb (apart from not playing again with the other person again).
(a) is only a problem for you, when many people say that about you (that you should be avoided by everyone). Then you can get a karma penalty hit, but that can be repaired by playing more games without receiving more public red thums. Also note that people cannot give (a) limitless. So when handing out public red thumbs too often without handing out a lot of green thumbs to their opponnents too, then they can't give any more of those.

2. What should I do to persuade the players withdraw the red thumbs from me? Should I send an e-mail to BGA Team to deal pressure to them?

P.S. I have give the corresponding players red thumbs unless they withdraw their red thumbs from me.

No, just do nothing. You'll find other people to play with.

To summarize: Just don't bother about it. You won't meet those people again anyway.

And some advice: If they don't want to play the rematch, it is their right to decline . Making a fuss about it won't make them join. Most people don't read your info before joining your game in the first place, so they can't know about your "rule" anyway.

You will get red thumbs for various reasons, here is those I believe I got in my games:
- thinking too much
- in coop game, playing good, getting a remark telling it was bad, and contesting it
- in coop game, playing badly
- in coop game, give a tip
- in coop game, having something weird (unlucky?) happening which make me do something weird
( - I suppose my profile, that I should re-write)
( - I believe asking a rematch, apparently some countries/players assume it's bad behaviour to decline a rematch, and so that 'force' them to play again, even if they don't want to)
( - and I believe discuss on the forum)

So yeah it's really various.
Most of those are because of a single time. So even if you are clean most of the time, if you are in a bad mood one day, you can totally be blocked forever by that person.

I'm not clean at all, many times I just goes way more on one of those part (like giving 5+ tips which is way too much, especially if they don't ask/answer).

Like Silene said, you should just pass over it. I saw more and more red thumb given over time because I believe people learn to use it (myself included, even if I'm light on it). Many other website do the same, they give you the possibility of muting/blocking people, which just make you not see them anymore.
I find it personnally sad that's it's forever. Having the choice of muting/blocking someone for maybe 1week/1month/1year/forever could be useful too. People change over time, and maybe they were in a bad mood the day in question.

It's also unfortunate that red thumbs are BGA-wide, it could be useful to have game-specific red thumbs. For example, in coop games you may not want to play with a player that plays badly, but you probably won't mind playing against them in another competitive game.

I had the mind of sending an e-mail for the red thumb incident because I saw this as an injustice. However, I usually forgot to do this due to other busy life issues. So, I don't think this message would stir up my bad mood.

However, I do agree that giving a red thumb under a certain time limit could give another person a chance because the offense on them is not as serious as expected.

I received a couple of red thumbs with Catan recently and BGA simply punished me for this. Many accuse me of team play, but I have no idea which action of mine is team playing, and I DON'T team with others. I feel like red thumbs are abused and what's worse is that BGA affirmed them, moderating me but giving me no detailed explanation. Nor can I defend myself, nor there has to be evidence supporting their red thumbs. This is really unfair because I always have to worry about red thumbs coming from nowhere when I'm playing. What should I do to satisfy my opponents?

If I don't want to play a rematch I won't. If I beat a player really well and they offer little challenge I might not desire to play them again. Particularly if they demonstrably come across as a sore loser or imbalanced in some way. Now it doesn't mean I would automatically red thumb them, I would just decline. But if they kept messaging me and wanting explanations and the like? Yeah I'd red thumb them, and maybe even publicly too if I felt sufficiently harassed.

But don't worry OP. I've taken steps to ensure you don't have to worry about that from me.
