I believe objective VP are getting a disproportionate amount of attention.

As I see it, they are a luxury available to the faction who can score them.
The standard point is and will always be the fighting enemy troops.
Being able to achieve both, the better for said player!

But having objective points count so greatly towards ties... as in counting like 5 figures, would magnify their importance far greater than in the current game.

And I repeat, as it stands right now, they are already a luxury blessing from heaven to even have them available.

Note that... simply having a "tool" to threaten the opponent, without having to go the "last mile" to score them, has game effects.
After all, they are VP that can be made just by movement, without any die roll.

They are a very valid part of the game, I truly believe they need no modification of their impact and interaction.

Some Scenarios are set up with this in mind.

Pitched Battles?

I really don't understand where you are coming from...You prefer Scenario's without objective medals???

I agree. I was not suggesting anything other than playing according to the rules. If You gain Control of an Objective hex, and if that Objective hex is worth two (instead of the normal one) Medal's, active player should receive his/her due reward and gain the two medals as per Scenario deign...this is the way the game is meant to be played. Take a scenario that puts higher emphasis on different units, Counting Artillery or tank unit as two Medals oppose to one...in game they are worth more even a preferred target, only to find out at games end they are worth no more than any other unit? Tie breaker being all willy-nilly. Far too many ties in this game. Tie breaker rules could and should be tightened up a bit.

High Command Frowns upon me when I don't Achieve a Decisive Victory...Gaining Objectives is the defining factor.

*Direct every military operation towards a clearly defined, decisive, and attainable objective*

I was referring to the suggestion of having objective medals count as 5 figures for tie-break purposes. Which gives them a disproportionate importance... given the fact that they already are of immensely importance (see my earlier comment of seeing objective medals as a tool to threaten and force manoeuvre by your opponent).

Your suggestion, if I understand correctly, is that currently the game stops counting at the max. medal level, but a player having just scored 2VPs, wastes 1.
This sounds like a pretty fringe situation... I have not seen this come up often, AND be relevant for loss on a tie-break situation.
I understand the concept, but would not readily know what the "rules as written" are.

A counter-argument could be made that:
"Hey, you had your chance, should have scored this double sooner and closed the match before, This scenario only goes to X medals, you cannot try and snatch more out of it"

With this in mind, why would they not be included when determining a tie result? I know when my opponent has played a better game than I. The computer doesn't account for this. I do think it should be tightened up a bit. It would be nice if tie results were limited. I think it would be much better if BGA was to implement; Tactical, Marginal, Decisive Victory's...Gaining a better understanding of player stats, performance, etc. Eliminating tie results completely!

Capturing the flag is always sought after, eliminating unit's is Marginal at best.

You can't have house rule on BGA. So feel free to discuss any tie breaker you want, but that's not going to happen here unless you get Days Of Wonder approval.

Even if I was to develop a tournament?

thank you

Well yes and no. You can't change the game rules on BGA, so winners and losers will be computed accordingly to the rules, which means that if you use a BGA tournament, you must obey these rules.
Now if you run a tournament without BGA tournament feature, you can do anything you want. This is the case for most popular Memoir44 tournaments that have their own set of rules of determining who plays against who and who gain how much points or something like that.

I just tied a very hard-fought game, tied medals AND figures.
Well deserved tie, I could not.... for the life of me... say who should win such an absolute tie. We both did good.

My question is:
What do you propose?
- In case of medal tie, tie-break NOT with figures, but another criteria.
- Or in case of a medal tie, first tie-break with figures AND then with some new tie-break.

In any case, going back to the 2xVP medals being ignored, the only time a double VP objective medal would not count, is when you leave that objective for last.
Trying to gain advantage of this, and "milk" a scenario for X+1 medal, when it should only give X... sounds "gamey".

So I repeat this observation that truly applies here:
"Hey, you had your chance, should have scored this double sooner and closed the match before, This scenario only goes to X medals, you cannot try and snatch more out of it"

What are the chances that a match like this would present itself at this exact time and place, for this very discussion?
Well deserved tie
Only if this is what you were going for...When all else fails, go for the tie!
I could not.... for the life of me... say who should win such an absolute tie.
That's what I'm talking about.

How many German units made it to the River and crossed to safety? Neither player accomplished the mission objective. Whereas you find it impossible to decide - allow the Scenario to decide for you. It is clear, according to the "Conditions of Victory" (which is described in the Scenario), You both lost. Let me ask - if either of you had managed to cross the river, could you then decide who might have Won this match?
I repeat this observation that truly applies here: "Hey, you had your chance, should have scored this double sooner and closed the match
This does not apply here. Nothing doing with this game is subject to time (other than making a move within a player's allotted time slot).

The Scenario should be the deciding factor. Players shouldn't be distracted with the possibility of a tie result.

AHHAHAHHAHAHA fair enough!

(I tried to make them aware of this in my comments before, but I was ignored, now comes my revenge!)
