I am developing a simple positional convention for 2-5 players with any BGA variants.
The motivation is to have a convention that:
(1) requires minimum learning time to start a game with beginners (typically within 3-5 mins including Q&A)
(2) requires little memory. Almost all the information needed can be found in BGA's gameplay interface and the automatic game log.
(3) makes all clues definite - no more guessing of cluer's focus.
So let's start!
Discard: unless having known trash, discard the rightmost unsaved card (see Save clue). Marked cards are NOT considered saved.
Save clue: a number clue (to any player) (whether empty or not) is a save clue. It saves X (X=1-5) cards from the right.
If a saved card was played, the number of saved cards does NOT change, unless updated with another number clue. (Essentially you can ask a player to temporarily save a number of cards, and later unsave them, depending on the context.)
Play clue: a colour clue (whether empty or not) is a positional play clue.
Which position?
In BGA, colours of the successfully played card pile goes from left as: red-yellow-green-blue-white (for no variant). Therefore the 5 colours simply match Slot 1-5 from left to right in the player's hand.
(*In 6th colour games, a multicolour clue is defined to indicate Slot 1, same as red)
(**In 4-5p games, white is not a play clue as there is no Slot 5)
Who plays?
A play clue to the next player tells the clued player that he/she can play this card, whereas a play clue skipping any number of player seats simply copy the same play clue to all skipped seats.
That's all about this convention.
A test play of 6th colour + black powder is here:

(Note that Move#37 was a misclick, and was treated as a green clue instead of the red clue as stated.
Look forward to your feedbacks!
(A quick note: I'm considering using the deserted white clue in 4-5p games as a "save 0" clue, but thought it may be confusing.)
