It's a bit unconvenient, but you can: Scroll down to the bottom of your favourites. There you find another search bar, where you can type the name of the game you would like to play. When the game icon is found, just click on it to open or join a table. Or mark it as another favourite

Thanks, but as you said, it's a lot less convenient than starting a non-favourited game used to be before the interface change.
