I have had the same experience with this game in particular. Last moves often take longer and with determination being played you can get over the time without even dawdling. being expelled because the other person is a sore looser is really frustrating and you can't really do anything but give them a red thumb, it's also really unfair towards the second or third player at the table. It would be great if that could change.

Than just play with a bigger time limit to begin with. 3min (fast) is enough to finish even a double determination turn. If it is not for you it is also ok, but than play at 4/5mins from the get go, some people want to play fast and you agree on playing in that time window when you choose the speed.

Though I can feel you too.

I have a new idea @tisac: every player gets 1-2x 1-2mins extra that can be activated during the game. So kind of in turn 30 it will be longer so I take my 1 extra minute by clicking in it for 4 mins in a 3min game for this turn.

it might be fast enough if the server wasn't so slow, it usually takes at least 2 seconds for the server to respond to a move.

It is very annoying, most of my games are about 12-17 minutes and most of players i play against are playing for about 20 minutes. But there are players who will use every single minute making the game very long despite the fastest time option available.
+1
Most fast options on BGA are too slow. The simple solution would be to implement faster modes like blitz and maybe even bullet speed. I’d prefer user defined time settings, but that would be not as easy to implement and has some side effects to.

[I don’t expect anything to change as the service works fine for the majority and admins don’t seem to be interested in catering to more competitive or tourney-focused folks …]

I have been expelled in the 1st second of negative time of a multiple combo shot, after more than one hour game.

the biggest pb of that system is that player who expell had no risk, only benefits, destroy the game for all players, and get the elo points, which is obviously the goal most of the time.

And the comment in that1 game (https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=401591095) :

Résultat de la partie neutralisé (Un joueur a quitté la partie en cours de jeu) :
Le joueur qui a quitté la partie (ou dont les tours ont été passés) perd cette partie et aura une pénalité de ☯.
Les autres joueurs gagnent la partie et obtiennent 100% des points ELO normaux (car 100% du jeu était joué avant l'incident).

No , i did not leave the game !!!! I have been expelled in the 1st second when my time got negative? It's a strategy of some bad players to increase thir ELO rank.
No, 100% of the game was not player , and it was not an incident, it was an agression.

Véry annoying, unfair, agressive, bad behaviour and perversion of the system.
Pity for a very good site and a marvelous game.

You playing overtime is your fault not the player who kicked. You guarantee that you play within the time limits when you start the game. It's NOT their risk to play longer , so they should be able to . If you have an incident You can still ask for time or try to change to turn based but if you suddenly take simply too long for your turn your bad.

I remember when I played through the ages early on I also ran out of time often, I was just playing to slow. The issue was that I just joined lobby games with fast settings than I should have played with.
