Is it possible to do something about the player markers? It's very hard to tell them apart and it needs some guesswork to tell which marker belongs to which player...

I am fairly new to board games. However, is the Reputation track overly powerful in this game? I've played a few games, where one player has access to the Reputation cards that appear, leaving none for the other (me!), and once you hit the 5 points or even 3 points per turn, the other player runs away with the scoring.

Perhaps I am missing something, but there does not appear to be any mechanism to stop the runaway or to fight against it. The build-up of VP using standard cards, and even with exploring does not seem to compensate for this.

Cheers
Ian

I 've been finding that if your opponent (in a 2 player game) is focusing only on reputation, you can usually find a trading/exploring combo that ends the game before they even reach the 5 spot on the reputation track. Exploring lands that give you bracelets, and having trades that give you cards/recruits, you can build up a pretty quick engine.
I also thought the reputation track was pretty powerful in my first few games, but then kept losing to other players that were focusing on other combos. It's always going to depend on what's available in the game, so in some games reputation might be more powerful, but it's slower to build up than other mechanisms, so the counter is to find a quicker route to end the game.
