Re: Highest possible score

Post by MadCassowary »

I just tried to find the highest theoretical score (without having seen this conversation before) and I ended up with the exact same combination with "4 colors cards" which does 196 points (card #53 can be exchanged with card #47 for the same score). I tested 8 different strategies:
- "4 color cards": 196
- minerals: 188
- indices: 185
- night: 178
...

It seems that 196 is unbeatable:)

I think I found a 202 points game by inserting the 17 card before the 4 colors:
17/18/23/35/43/48/51/66
sanctuaires:
red stone // yellow stone // green stone // stone+1p/stone // green+1p/green // yellow+4colors // 2p/stone

According to AI:

What is the highest possible score possible in the card game Far Away?

It's difficult to pinpoint the absolute highest possible score in the card game Faraway, as it can depend on a variety of factors like the specific cards dealt, strategic choices made by players, and the number of players involved
.
However, based on discussions and records, scores in the 180-200 range have been achieved and are considered very high.
Here's why determining a single "highest score" is tricky:

Varied Card Scoring: Region cards offer different scoring opportunities, some based on specific icons, others on meeting prerequisites, and some giving fixed points.
Sanctuary Card Influence: Sanctuary cards, gained during the game, can provide additional fame and bonuses, impacting the final score significantly.
Reverse Scoring: A unique aspect of Faraway is that scoring occurs in reverse order of playing cards, meaning later-played cards are scored first and influence the scoring of earlier ones. This necessitates careful planning of which cards to play and when.

While there's no official or theoretical maximum score, aiming for a high score in Faraway involves:

Strategic Card Selection: Choosing cards that synergize with each other, maximizing icon generation and fulfilling scoring conditions.
Efficient Sanctuary Acquisition: Gaining sanctuaries and leveraging their bonuses to enhance scoring potential.
Adapting to Randomness: The element of luck in drawing cards requires players to adapt their strategies based on the cards they receive.

Ultimately, achieving a high score in Faraway comes down to careful planning, strategic play, and adaptability to the game's evolving situation.
