Anyway, as I also saw on another thread discussing the general chat, one could instead post to the player group for the game they're interested in (eg. 7 Wonders Players in this case), which is more likely to reach players who might actually be interested in playing.
RobertBr also proposed this above. It's still spammy, but targeted spam.
No, he mentioned the forum for the specific game, what I saw was talking about the group of players for a specific game (so you get the messages in your feed about it). Both are reasonably better ideas than posting in the general forum (I agree that my original comment should have specified that posting game requests in the general forum isn't the best idea, but game specific forums are probably reasonable).

I see. Can the general public post there? For example, going back two years all I see in the 7 Wonders Players group are messages about the arena settings for each season, and a message about a new tutorial being available. You can comment on those messages, but I don't see a way for a regular user to post a new message.

Well, I was reiterating a message I saw in another thread when someone complained about the inability to use the General Messages as a non-premium member - someone else suggested that. I've never tried it myself, so again, you may be correct.

As far as I know that kind of "spam" (posting in the chat of an official games group like all "7 Wonders Players") is not allowed. You may leave a comment on that group page (e. g. for an appointment), but others won't get a notification about it. I think this is different for groups which are created manually though.
