Why Russian players can use their flag?

There is no proud flag-waving here. All there is is a tiny little icon as a bit of information where someone is from. People usually can't choose their nationality. BGA chose to show that piece of information as flag rather then 2/3-letter country code. Propably because they prefer pictures and colors over text.

I have never in my life proudly waved a german flag. But I don't mind it sitting (micro-sized) on my profile or player panel next to the game, because there - it is no sign of pride or anything. It's just a bit of information.
