With them ruining my tables? Sometimes I don't care, sometimes I do, and I set a minimum karma in my tables.

With them ruining other people's games? Yes, that's the only way those "other people" learn to use the karma restrictions :D
Fair enough... but actually, that's not 'fair' ;)
As I was saying in my answer to testingmypatience, it's not ok that people with 0 rep just 'get away with it'. There has to be a system so they can adjust their behaviour.

They don't "get away with it". They cannot play in my tables, I think that's already a pretty severe penalty :D

Seriously though, they can only play with people who don't care (or don't know how to avoid) playing with 0-karma players, I think that's fair for everyone, except maybe for newbies. As long as they didn't break any other site rules (no cheating, no insulting, etc.), I don't see why they should get any further penalty. They'll probably collect some red thumbs too.

I would imagine a rather large percentage of this site are "newbies" so to speak, not familiar with BGA filters, etc. several of which just host looking for a game without really following all of the nuances behind reputation, etc.

Melarnos wrote: 28 March 2024, 22:05 Hi everyone,
So, I played a turn-based game, and a player bailed (stopped playing) a few turns before the end, because it was losing...
To my great suprise, I saw that this... thing (won't call that a 'player' or even a 'human being') has 0 reputation.
ZE-RO.
I didn't think it was possible.
So ok, yeah, losing karma can happen to anyone (emergency, technical issues...), although it's less forgivable on the slowest turn-based games.
But reaching ZERO reputation, with absolutely no consequence?
What's the point of karma, then?
As I understand by reading other posts, BGA won't ban these accounts because they want as many players as possible, but seriously, can at least the ones who go down to ZERO have a consequence? Like a temporary ban or something? A consequence clearly indicated in the terms and conditions of the website?
Thoughts?
If a player has a temporary ban, they also have their Karma reset to 0. So if they banned players for having 0 Karma, there would no longer be any temporary bans, only permanent ones.

I agree with Jellby, simply set your personal Preferences to avoid these players.
I fail to see how the antecedent leads to the conclusion here. How does resetting karma to 0 for temporary bans make already having 0 karma transform a temporary ban into a permanent one?
Ah, I take it you're assuming the ban is continuously applied. Obviously that wouldn't work out very well due to looping issues. I'm thinking it would be more like going off upon reaching 0, not just having it. Once the temporary ban ends it wouldn't automatically swat them off the site again. Whether it just waits until that player loses reputation resulting in having 0 again, or they get a few points upon coming back, something can be factored in to avoid that sort of silliness.
