This is the point that should be taken away from this discussion (and every other discussion of something supposedly "broken" about a game). BGA occasionally addresses game play flaws, balance issues, and even house rules in games (such as excluding overpowered birds in Wingspan or handling the pearl hoarding edge case in Splendor Duel or excluding the GORDON - 7891 G card in Space Base or implementing the friendly robber in Catan, etc., etc.), but it is in consultation with the game publisher that authorized the game.

Also 7 Wonders is not exactly a new game, so balance issues would be common knowledge if they existed (as per examples like Wingspan and Space Base, which are both more recent than 7 Wonders). Not saying there aren't balance issues, I haven't done enough analysis myself to know, but you will often see people complaining about balance issues in games, where some say a particular faction is overpowered and they always lose against it and others complain the exact same faction is underpowered and they can never win as that faction. Sometimes it's about your (or other players) style of play, sometimes there is luck in it - and 7 Wonders does have a luck component in what cards you get and when. I wouldn't call it a party game either but it does run quite quickly.
