Quitting because you are losing is bad sportsmanship.
Conceding is the same as quitting. It’s just quitting while admitting defeat.
I think people who concede should get more of a penalty because it is bad sportsmanship. I play the game, because I like to play not because I want to get points for my karma. Sometimes I start a game and have exactly enough time to play one long game. When someone concedes halfway through, I do not have time to start another game. I cannot finish the game I am playing and see how well I can do.

Think about two teams playing a game. What would you think if one of them decides they’re losing and wants to quit? Do you think that’s fair to the other team? Quitting is bad sportsmanship. Period period. Period. Period. period period. Period. Period.

Concede literally gives the other player the victory, and respects both player's time.

It has been a standard part of chess gameplay for decades, for example. If one player is drastically ahead, there is no need for the other person to run victory laps for 15 minutes until the inevitable result happens.

Trying to force a guaranteed loser to finish instead of admitting defeat and rewarding the victory is being disrespectful of that player's time because one wants to flaunt it and drag them through the mud.

Even if someone is totally selfish, it will work against them in the long run, because players may tend to quit the platform if they were forced to constantly sit through slow grinding defeats while the other player mocks them.

Forcing me to sit through your ego-stroking attempt at a personal best, when it was obvious you would win 15 minutes ago is bad sportsmanship

Please supply more details, particularly a URL for the table where this happened, and more details about where you see it written that you did not finish the game, and anything else relevant.

I read the conversation about the poor sportsmanship of some players quitting when they are obviously losing the game. While it doesn't convince me at all (I personally go till the end in every game I play, even when I'm losing bad), I can accept it.
But what when players go till the very end of game and quit just when final score is being calculated? That's pure bad sportsmanship, and nothing else. Because quitting like this sensibly reduces the output for the winner (or even the other players, who gets 0-5 points, while instead should have got 20+ points). So why?? That has nothing to do with conceding, it's just not wanting to play in a fair way!
You have stayed till the very end of the game, you can stay another 2 minutes to get the correct score amount.
I noticed this happens especially in my Ticket to Ride tables.
Would any @mod give me a clear explanation of why this behaviour should be tolerated?
Thanks

You judge incorrectly. Sometimes it is the first winning game I’ve had in a long while. That’s hardly ego-stroking!

The previous winn/loss record has nothing to do with it. You want to force me to sit through something just so you can feel good about yourself.

Because conceding is acknowledging that they've lost, and is willing to accept that any come-from-behind victory on their part is unlikely enough that they don't want to dot every I and cross every T to get there.

What are you losing by them conceding? You're getting the full ELO, you're getting the victory on your record, and you've got more time to play other games (or more of the same game).

Why should they be punished for giving you the very things you're playing for?
so just award the full elo, as if they conceded. Different in multiplayer where the winner is unknown an d the game is ruined. But 1v1 call it a full win

The person you play in each individual game has nothing to do with your previous games. What you're describing is exactly what is meant by ego- stroking. You want to savor your victory, that player wants to move onto their next game.
