I can't even see Prelude in Alpha reviews, but it's still a friendly alpha option.
Did I miss something ?

I wish they would hurry up and get prelude out of alpha. I swear to god the majority of my TM games end up ending earlier because people keep running out of time. Presumably because it's a friendly game, they don't feel the need to play to time.

I have had quite a few folks quit early or time out in Prelude indeed. Quite frustrating. I suggest using thumbs down option. Perhaps ppl will start hosting tables that require good reputation (no thumbs down) and that will help? I am not premium so I never host tables. Best wishes.

As long as it is in alpha, people are allowed to quit with no penalty. You should not expect alpha games to be completed.
I suggest using thumbs down option.
Red-thumbing someone for doing what they're allowed to do is rude, in my opinion, unless there's some kind of agreement to not quit the table. But of course, you are entitled to give red thumbs for any reason.

Red thumbs do not affect reputation, so no, it won't help.

Just because they're allowed to do it, doesn't mean that they should. As far as I can tell, prelude is implemented near perfectly. It doesn't make sense why it's still in alpha. Meaning people have as little reason to quit or go over time as they would in a non-friendly game. So the logic holds that you should red thumb them.

Even if the implementation is perfect, people may choose to join a game precisely because it's alpha and they can leave at any time. You may not want to play it in "training mode", but the fact is it's training mode.
It's like creating a 24-moves-per-day table (30 min per move) and then red-thumbing people because they take 10 minutes to make a move and log out for a couple of hours, instead of playing quasi-real-time.

Nice to see everyone chime in. I neither work for BGA nor am I an expert on their systems. A quick skim of their faq shows in the code of conduct section:
What is the code of conduct?
On Board Game Arena, you should not:
Run out of time on the game clock.
Leave a game in progress on purpose.
As such, I have in the past given a thumbs down to an opponent who appeared to leave a game on purpose. Seems to be in line with BGA's faq / code of conduct.
Best wishes.

Yep. There's little excuse for running out of time. You can ensure a game doesn't have a timer if that worries you. But joining a game with a timer and then running out of time isn't acceptable. What's even worse is when people don't even acknowledge or apologise that they've gone over time, which is what happens most of the time. So it's odd to consider red thumbing red when this seems to me to be much more ruder.
If somebody goes over a time due to a busy day and then acknowledge and apologise for it, I'll be understanding and won't boot them out or red thumb.

Its been almost a month, any word on when its coming out of Alpha?
The biggest annoyance is having it in friendly mode and people just leave or forget about the game without any consequences. Would also love to see it added to Arena.

There's another thread (adjacent this one currently) where someone else also asked about this and someone answered 'its being worked on'. Best wishes.
