Might I suggest Age of Innovation over Terra Mystica? It is a successor game from the same designer that eliminated the repetitiveness the original had. And its just released beta on BGA.

I'll add one you may not have heard of, Envelopes of Cash here on BGA. It is less balanced than Ark Nova but it has an immersive theme, euro-like gameplay and a ton of variety. It never picked up much steam when it released which makes me sad cause its such a great game.

I suggest Terraforming Mars :) I hit elite league last arena season, now moving into Terra Mystica and Ark Nova

Lewis & Clark needs quite a few games to begin to 'get', and there is still a learning curve afterwards, but that is the beauty of the game.

Although luck always features, being able to respond to the cards available to you, and make the best use of them, is always satisfying when it comes off. Better players will triumph over lesser on a very consistent basis. Also knowing how and when to fight for the best (or most currently useful) cards is a skill in itself. Spotting a good card in the row is no good, if you don't have the capacity to buy it.

Resource management is key. Furthermore calculating precise movements is often decisive, and may turn the game right at the end if you neglect it or bring off an imaginatively brilliant combo of moves.

This is a truly great game, but seems often to go unappreciated and unloved, mostly because its really rough on new players.

PS Just to add, I'm talking First Edition L&C. What the developers were thinking about when they came up with 2nd Edition, I just don't know. They 'fixed' things that didn't need fixing, and made other things a lot worse. But I suppose they came up with something different. It just wasn't as good. BGA adding this as an option wasn't a great move, IMO. It seems to have made the game more buggy, when it was pretty much 100 percent stable.
