In my opinion Red and Green Thumbs are neither use nor ornament and should be scrapped!

If a player warrants a Red Thumb then it should be a Moderation Matter.

ARENA should be fair competition.

If players want to be selective who they play with then SIMPLE GAME mode is available.

Blocking a player should only be permitted for communication purposes.

As for Multi Accounts, I'm not going to comment because if I do I'll get MODERATED!

This is the problem. There is nothing in the framework that supports blocking communication short of a red thumb. Until they disentangle those two functionalities they probably won't remove the effect of red thumbs on Arena matching. If there were a way to mute chat, obviously chat for anyone you've given a red thumb could be automatically muted. But there isn't a way through the BGA framework to mute chat. Given that people have been asking for a function to mute chat for years, there is no evidence this will happen soon.

There is a way to mute chat.

I have it downloaded and it does work.

Please see the following links:

I specifically said "through the BGA framework." I wasn't talking about third-party extensions.

Yes, I can read and I'm well aware of what you have written!

However, I really don't care who has developed this mute feature.

As long as it works and does not course any computer issues that's all that matters.

The problem with getting rid of red thumbs altogether is games with a high quitter rate are obnoxious to play if you can't red thumb players. I agree you shouldn't be able to red thumb someone to purely avoid them in Arena, but I also don't want to play with the 100s of players I've red thumbed for quitting games they had either already lost or were going to lose. It is especially problematic in games with more than 2 players in Arena, because you can be playing one of the top ranked players, know you're not going to win, and quit, you don't lose any extra Arena points for doing so, only ELO, while they then get nothing for their win, I don't want to play with players like that, and shouldn't be forced to, because it makes the games not fun to play.

I wonder if they have a Red Thumb equivalent in the Olympics!

You also can't void the result by quitting in the Olympics.

Penalties are far too lenient.

Karma should be reduced to 0 for quitting!

The quitting issue must have been fixed, right? I’ve only been playing Arena for about a year, but anytime someone quits/resigns, I’ve gotten the Arena and ELO points.

So far, that’s the only solid argument I could see in favor of keeping the red downthumb. Have recently realized it is (probably) being abused in the Obsession Arena, and came here to see why the issue hasn’t been fixed.
