I played a game with spirit ghouls, that is a crazy combination. I just kept moving my ghouls around and the player had to do whack a mole to try and kill them. In the meantime I had my active race attacking too. I think having a ban ghouls in 2p is a good idea.

I strongly agree on a ghoul ban in 2p. At least for the first turn.
I think it's feasible to beat, but things have to go exactly right (e.g. lucky dice rolls), which isn't really fair.

An option to see score of each player real-time, enabled by default. Without that not really playable turn by turn

if you meant how much points each player has, thats hidden information according to the rules.

Yes but it don't make any sense in a videogame adaptation where you can note that with paper, and replay last turns of player. It will just give advantage to organized players.
Kingdom Builder have the same rules. Yet its BGA adaptation have a "show real time score" option, enabled by default.

Could not agree more with this. Ghouls literally ruin a 2 player game. It feels virtually impossible to win against someone who gets ghouls on the first turn and then you are just playing it out which is so not fun.

I think I have a good compromise.
Would be interesting to decrease number of Ghouls in 2 players.
Instead of 5, a 4 (or even 3!) would be good.
For example Ghouls merchant would be at 6 (or 5).
This would introduced additional strategy.
I lost Ghouls only when they are merchant and far away (pay 4 or 5).
So we would have a much increase number of borderline Ghouls.

I'd vote no on a real time score display. Having a general idea without knowing for sure is part of the game. If people want to cheat then let them cheat, but at least make it a chore for them

It also won't help them much when they play the game in real life. Displaying the scores would just force us all to break the rules. At least in 4-5 players (I mostly only play 5 but will play the occasional 4). I've been playing for several years, but have never played 2 player. That version seems like a completely different game and displaying a running score probably wouldn't matter as much.

Option to remove ghouls in 2p would be much appreciated!
Even with house rules of only using them as a second race is still unbalanced!
I'm a big fan of playing this game as 2p... but not with ghouls!

Hurrah. Arena is now 4p.
