Actually a Preview button even more desirable for me than Undo.
Preview/confirm/undo is the same thing (in my mind anyway) - you make a move and you (and ideally your opponents) see the effects, but can cancel until you press a button confirming your choice. Not sure what distinction you are making, demiurgsage.
Preview is when you say(write) what you want to do and can see the result without execute actions. Depending on realization it may be a very powerfull tool to make decisions in the game. Preview even may allow you to see the result of moves that you can't make right now.
Undo is restricted to the current turn and you should actually make the turn than Undo it. You can't see the result of another sequence of actions without execute and undo first one.

So a preview is just multiple undos? Would you have to choose moves for your opponent to advance the preview, then? Sounds pretty silly.

Confirm should only ever work on the current turn obviously, just the things you can do before your opponent gets to potentially make another choice. It seems like you want to be able to preview multiple scenarios and play practice games against yourself, but confirm should only be a tool for correcting actual mistakes, not a strategy aid. No one gets to run simulations with a tabletop game.

There is a site where this feature is realized and it was very interesting experience. But admins (or moderators, don't know how many of them here) removed my post when I mentioned that site.

We already answer this question in the last FAQ here :

Why there is no UNDO button on BGA?

_ This is really difficult to implement. This is difficult to explain to non-developers, but basically on BGA we let programmers do whatever visual effects they want when a move is played. In consequence, the is no generic solution to revert these move on the interface. Some games build a game-specific system to do it (ex: Tash Kalar, Dungeon Twister) which cannot be extended to others games without a lot of pain. A game (TTA) finds a solution that requires a browser refresh, which is acceptable in turn-based mode, but not in real-time (imagine your browser has to refresh for every opponent's undo).

_ We don't consider this as a priority. Yes a lot of players are complaining about this, but is there really a majority of players that would accept to wait that some opponents take back their move 2 or 3 times before deciding? So sometimes we are considering specific situation, and especially game-specific situation, but I'm not sure this option will be used by the majority of players here once proposed in the future.

_ The final solution to this is an update of BGA Framework with a complete different approach, and many other improvements. Let's call it "BGA 2.0". And yes, we are working on it, for a long time, but this is a long-terme challenge :).

PS : "BGA 2.0" is linked with Sandbox, and have a built-in undo system, so yes, we are definitely working on it.

I play Through the Ages, and it implements "Undo" just fine. It even has a "Whoa! Are you sure you want to do this?" feature to give you a second chance before finishing a turn that will go badly.

Tzolk'in has no undo, so a mis-click or an "oops" destroys the game for everyone. Who wants to play against a position ruined by accident or carelessness instead of by strategy?
