You don’t know peoples lives. Maybe somebody is in the hospital being prepared for a bone marrow transplant? That is many months of sitting there absolutely alone. There could be endless reasons why somebody is online playing games most of the time

I just scrolled through the last 45 days of your game and I can’t find any game you played with somebody quit. Can you put the link so I can understand what you’re saying?
Likely it was Clans of Caledonia around 10th Dec to give poster their first CoC win.
OP has never played that game. I can’t find it on your list either.
OP (original poster) was pilotlamp last month.

The player you quoted was Andrew Hanney who added a thread comment from yesterday.

Like you I was curious and I took a look at Andrew’s game log and spotted a CoC game that looked like it matched his description. Possibly you’d not spotted it and I was trying to help you see it. But Andrew will have to confirm if that was the game in question.

Oh!! I didn’t even know we could change names like that. Could you just put the link here for me? I want to understand this because I’ve never seen it happen.

They also have a 'forever' moderator warning. Maybe Karma shouldn't start to be recovered until some time has elapsed, or limit the amount of Karma that can be earned in a peroid of time to stop this potential abuse of the Karma system, which otherwise works very well!

Hi Joy, if you click Andrew’s name in this linked post you’ll find his prior games. He’s still not commented which game caused him concern so I’m not going to link to the CoC one I think it might be.

I'm not sure if you're thinking the OP is the same person who you quoted - they're two different users. Andrew has just posted his grievance with someone timing out on one of his games to this thread.

That's true. I was actually just playing someone in a turn based game who said they're getting treatments in the hospital. So I take back my comment.

Agree that people timing out is a growing problem.

This often happens on faster turn-based games. I would suggest that if someone times out more than a few times, they should no longer be able to join games at that speed. Or, this might be better: ding them so much on karma that they fall below the 85% threshold and can be excluded from joining that way.

There are plenty of 1-move-per-day games, and I don't understand why people think it's cool to join a 12-move-per-day game and make it take a month.

That does happen. Your first expulsion gets you -10 karma, subsequent ones in a short timeframe (not sure of the exact timeframe, but maybe within a week or something?) gets you an additional -20 each.

Yes it was Clans of Caledonia that he quit. Sorry I never looked back at this thread. Only noticed it when Easter egg hunting today!
