@madhattr999:
We removed all red thumb of players who gave more than 50% red (ie: more red than green). If you are in this case, you gave between 20% and 50% of red. At some point you will be able to give red again.
Cheers,

I was wondering why I would get a mysterious red thumb every once in a while; I never though of 'player was too good for me'. Nice catch of that kind of abuse.

Is this because I have too many red thumbs already from before the system went into effect? If so, how do I tell what my balance is? I can't remove red thumbs from people because I haven't played with them recently.
I am not arguing against the new system, but there seems to be a problem with the implementation.
I am also facing a similar issue. I wanted to give a red thumb to one of the player who, after a defeat, made me wait a looong time and then exited the game.
Please advise what to do.

In general, I think this new reputation system is very good. However, I have a problem with beginner's protection.
Today I played a hex game with a beginner.When he realised he was losing, he quit the game without explanation. In addition, he gave me a red thumb. It seems that he does that very often - he has very bad reputation, he quits the games often and has many red thumbs. Well, maybe it was my own fault, I should have restricted the table access (as I usually do). However, I feel it is unfair to receive a red thumb from such a bad player, and not being able to give a red thumb back. If a beginner has a red thumb protection, then he should not be able to give a red thumb either.

This system is still unreliable and even more worthless now because you can only give a red thumb every 5 green. If you play several people you have already given a green thumb to then you may not be able to give a red thumb when you really want to. Especially since it there is a time limit on giving thumbs. Not being able to go back to games over 12 hours?? or whatever it is and give thumbs means you'd have to play 5 new games with 5 new people to just be able to give on red to someone who really deserves it. Ain't nobody got time for that...

So, Hollenbeck, you are saying that you believe that more than 20% of the people here deserve red thumbs? You aren't able to find 4 good new players for every random bad player? You haven't built up a large number of green thumbs to be able to give any red thumbs? Is that what you are really saying?

You don't build up a large number of green thumbs because they EXPIRE. If I could give out a red thumb for every 5 green thumbs I have I could give a red thumb whenever I wanted. This system doesn't allow that pure and simple. If I have to play 15 games to give out 3 red thumbs to possibly deserving players I have to play for hours. Some games already take hours. It's flawed and doesn't work for every game.

Yeah this is a joke. As a new member I can't comment on a game and when a brand new player to a game leaves right after starting a game I can't even give them a thumb. That isn't cool at all. How about you take the training wheels off and just get rid of this lousy reputation system? We aren't children here.

I was unaware of this. When do they expire?
