I agree, it isn't possible to learn the game from this tutorial. The video filled in some gaps but was also inadequate.

The rulebook is simple and clear.

The first key concept not explained is that the numbers below the value in the top left corner of a card's white side are only a PREVIEW of the other side. It's just there so you don't have to look up and down and flip the cards mentally. Those numbers are not yet in play.

Regarding the Formation question, which also still hasn't been adequately explained here, it's quite simple.

According to the rulebook, "A Formation is a set of runs. Examples: Q,Q,J,J,10,10 or 7,7,7,6,6,6."

That's the whole of the explanation, and I believe that's all the explanation required.

And now about Water.

Each Water symbol, when played, will be replaced with a value which the BGA interface will allow you to choose. They are wild, so you choose any value in the deck.

When you choose, the BGA interface will REPLACE the water symbol on the card with the number you have chosen in a blue box. That's how we get to the unexplained Formation in the tutorial.

Now you can see that there are three 8's, three 9's, and three 10's.

Remember, the two white 10's on the second card (which is a white 8) are only a PREVIEW of that card's flipped side. They have no effect yet. The only numbers that matter are the top left card values and the water/wild numbers in the blue boxes.

I hope that helps!

@Scribal: If you take another crack at the tutorial, may I recommend sticking to quotes from the rulebook? The wording is very clear. Even your explanation above in this thread didn't really make sense to me!
