I don’t understand why in BGA, low level players can be taken as gurus ?
Because the gurus are supposed to be those who play a lot, whether they're good at it or not.

I think you are missing the point. You are describing who BGA
allows to be a guru. Saying it is what a guru is "supposed to be" is inconsistent with the common usage of the word "guru" as referring to someone who has actual expertise in an endeavor, not merely someone who does an activity a lot. "Fanatics" or "enthusiasts" would have been a better word to describe who BGA chooses to be a "guru."

Yeah, well, I mean "BGA gurus". They (BGA) clearly didn't want the "top players" to decide on Arena settings, presumably they wanted those most invested (or potentially most invested) in Arena to decide on the settings, so they settled for those who play the most. They failed to take into account (or just dismissed) that some of those are not interested in Arena at all (and some, especially in less popular games, cannot even play Arena because they have <100 elo

).

Hmmmm.... this is odd. I've just been made a game guru for a game I've only played 5 times, lost comprehensively 5 times, and have an ELO of 1? I've never started a game - only been invited to play, and I honestly don't really know how to play or even like the game. lol

I was made a guru after playing (and losing) Twin Tin Bots just once. If no one else is playing, then playing a handful of times makes you one of the most active players.
