When one plays with the literal best players in the world on a daily basis for years one’s standards tend to become pretty high.

If it ain’t perfect it’s trash. First or last baby.

And then we have a mediocre player calling himself great.

And then we have Primrose making fun of people.

thanks for suggestions. after 5-6 losses in a row in arena from elite players (even from ones with 150 ELO) I have decided to drop this game (seems I am too dumb for it). Now I have free time to do something else ^_^

Have you considered not playing Arena mode?
There's other maps and Colonies to explore.

Don't get discouraged by a bad streak. I recently got a losing streak resulting in a ~160 ELO drop. Currently trying to recover from it. Sometimes the game can be very punishing, but when things click, it is so rewarding!

I’ll take a look through a few games and give you some thoughts. But the most important factor in TfM is accepting that sometimes a game can’t be won. It’s surprising to me that people actively playing on a board game site where most games have lower Elo ceilings can’t deal with this, but if you’re the type of person who can’t grok occasionally playing against the giganuts and having no chance — then TfM isn’t for you. The fact is that *most* games against 400-650 Elo players are winnable — something in the 70-85% range depending on the opponent. When you get torched by a strong hand, try not to expend so much mental energy trying to wrap your head around their good fortune — it happens. Instead, focus on what *you* could have done better; almost every game I play I can find a move or two that were mistakes. The ones that cost me games stick with me for a while. Identify these and move on, improve, and win the next one.

And, yes, sometimes you’ll have a string of games where luck doesn’t favor you. Even if you’re winning 80%+ of your games, that means you’ll have streaks where you go 0-3 or lose 5/10 games. That’s just what chance looks like. You’re not uniquely unlucky, you’re just going through a bad stretch.
