Playing a lost game all the way until the last turn and then conceding just before it ends is bad sportsmanship. Just end your last turn and let the score count for stats.

That is not the situation the OP is describing. "Playing a lost game" presupposes that the player has a bad game and is losing all the way, then conceding before the final turn. The OP describes a situation where the game is not lost, but becomes such the instant Boots are played. Those are 2 different situations.
