Silliness aside, to actually answer your question, I'd say the ease of playing a lot of different games with a rating system, giving more honest feedback about how good a player is at a game than many would care to admit. When you get paired up you get some idea of whether you're facing someone who knows how to play or not.

Groups are great with lot of opportunities, unfortunately they are barely known and used.

Since. I have now learn how to fully use it. The "bell" system for finding a real time game that very few players play. It is awesome.
