To be fair, though, one could delay sending one of their discs into the goal to prevent entrapment.
Yes, that's basically the first tactic one should learn in this game, only send one disc in if you are 100% sure you can get the other one in the same or next turn

So this ‘checkmate’ situation is very much part of the strategy it’s your catchup opportunity and something you should always look for when you or the other player is about to score.
There’s not an official checkmate in this position because it’s difficult to implement from a coding perspective but yes I would concede at this point - and everyone is able to concede if they get trapped so I think it’s covered
To avoid getting checkmated just don’t score unless you’re guranteed to get both pawns in - which requires you to take longer to score giving your opponent time to catch up a bit hence the catchup - with overdrive though it’s very manageable
One key element of advanced defense is knowing when you can’t score then completely giving up on scoring and just trying to position your pieces to block and trap - Kujipe did a great job doing that against me in a recent game. It forces a longer game where you can try to out build an opponent - if you have the gains for it!
Late game tactile is kind of crazy lol with all this weird defensive then offensive then defensive again play. I love it I hope everyone gets to experience it
