Which is not to say you should have agreed to robber, but staying quiet until it was an issue probably would have served you better. and sometimes you have to read the situation, and go friendly or this will happen. not saying its great, and people who ask for friendly in non friendly games suck in my opinion, but you have to play around it.
Exactly. The social aspect in this game is very important, everyone should be your friend until a certain point when you eventually start betraying to win the game. For example if someone robs you in the firsts turns then say nothing, otherwise you will become a pray for that player.

And for the guy saying that some players even "block themselves", well that's a very valid tactic. If you have another tile with the same resource then you could consider to sacrifice yourself in order to block the rest. Let's say you share wheat 5 with two other players and you also have wheat 6 then I would block wheat 5, especially late in the game.

The big issue is the FR mode can be used to trick. This is why it is so bad.
One player today cannot be robbed with 8 or 9 dev cards on their hands.
Sometimes the player doesn't respect the FR when they are in 3 points and the other 2 in 2 points.
Etc.

I propose to write in the begining; "I am not going to play in FR. Only Arena rules".

My total support on this.

I don't consider those who write "friendly rubber?" to be good people, but provocateurs. For some reason they think that other players MUST play according to their wishes. Even those who didn't promise to do so. They enjoy inventing their own rules for others, and in case of non-compliance with these rules, accuse the opponent of meanness (?) and take revenge for it throughout the game. In essence, this is a conspiracy at the beginning of the game to play in a team against a third player, the one who wants to play according to the real rules, and not according to the orders of another player.

It is interesting that in almost every game someone pushes the idea of a friendly rubber, but at the same time there has NEVER been a case where this issue was raised BEFORE the installation of settlements. As a result, the one who bets on clay and wood, does not have sheep/wheat and has plans to advance to the field that will give him a 2:1 exchange will most likely write about a friendly rubber. Because he is not betting on knights and cities, but on roads and relatively slow development - and if he initially bets on robbers, then he can finish the game with 2 points

Or when they roll 7 and move it to an empty space when if you attack they proceed to write in chat WHAAAAAAT

This passive aggressive behaviour is one of the things that I hate the most
