What are these and how do I use them?

When you are at a table, open the chat window and click on the meeple icon at the bottom. In addition to various meeple emojis....memojis?....you can select various phrases:

I think it's a no win situation. If you don't send a GG after a game is it rude? If you receive a GG after a game and don't reply is that rude?

You can't win! Send or don't send or reply to GG's and it can be interpreted differently. I see GG as just being like a hand shake after a tennis match.

If you lose, say gg in chat. The winner can say gg back and that is 100% polite with no chance of triggering anyone since the loser initiated.

If you win, just stay silent, wait for them to say gg.

Some players get salty after a loss so you can't say anything to them, even gg. Not saying I agree with it, but this method is proven effective to minimize salt.

This is how I handle this. If I win, I don't rush to the keyboard to say "gg." I wait for the losing player to say something.

What rubs me the wrong way is if I reach out at the beginning to say gl/hf or something and I get crickets, but then later when they win they somehow discover where their keyboard is located. I'm fine with people who don't want to chat at all, so the initial non-response doesn't bother me. But be consistent. I'm sure many people don't even give it a thought, but you can see how that can be perceived as "I only chat if I win."

If your icon says you're on mobile, I also can forgive it because I know the chat can be hard to see and cumbersome to access.

See, everyone has a different way of seeing things. I find things that seem to be said by rote (which includes the pre-written snippets) feel disingenuous (imo) so I don't say them/use them. I will respond to gg if I see it within an hour of being said (after a turn-based game) - because when people put gg in a chat 8 hours after a game has ended, it annoys me, and I don't want to annoy others - but mostly I don't initiate a gg, win or lose. However, if a game is particularly well played or hard fought, I will say gg because I think it was actually a gg (usually gg, wp actually). It has meaning, there's a point to saying it (imo), and again, this is win or lose. For the most part I prefer not to chat, especially since I mostly play turn-based games which makes the conversation quite stilted (imo).
