This seems highly unlikely to me. The publisher’s policy seems to be to only offer new content on Steam. So there’s no reason why this should be different for promo packs (apart from the possibility that the fan-made cards won’t be available online at all). The Americas expansion is also not available online, there’s the time needed for coding, but I guess they also want you to buy it in physical form first and then again for the app, but as soon as it will be, it will be app only for sure.

I thought a Viticulture expansion was added here recently.

I didn’t mean to say that I think it’s Stonemaier‘s policy no matter what, just referring to Wingspan for the next few years, before they’re done with all continents. On the one hand, it could’ve been worded more clearly, on the other hand, somebody asked a question about Wingspan in the Wingspan forum. The Viticulture app and the Wingspan app aren’t even products from the same software company, so the contracts will likely not be identical. I didn’t check on Steam, but on iOS, Wingspan is at No 6 of the Board Games Charts, Viticulture at No 199. I think it makes sense that a publisher doesn’t treat all of their games alike.

True. Clearly, SM has been hesitant (or unwilling) to add Wingspan expansions. Or Scythe (perhaps because it is inexplicably still in bate after a full year).

My understanding is exactly what you said - they want to keep the expansions to the pay to get, on [other gaming platform that rhymes with Gleam].
But, I also thought that was about trying to get profits from the expansions, and eventually slowly releasing the expansions here on BGA.

SO, who knows.

Agreed. Wingspan will probably have at least one more expansion, and to get Americas to the app, they will need about a year, maybe more. So I guess that we can get expansions on BGA maybe in 5 years or so. Or even later. But yeah, who knows. It’s an interesting topic how different publishers treat different games in that respect. Ark Nova has Marine Worlds and Map Packs on BGA, but only base game (with alternative maps) on the app. My feeling is that most apps aren’t successful in building a player base, with Wingspan being a notable exception. So they’re basically for people who want to play against AI, and in many apps, these aren’t playing very good or even decent. If I was a publisher, I’d think twice about putting out an app for a game that isn’t extremely popular sales wise. Rather wait some time, then get it to BGA. But then again, what do I know, maybe it makes sense for them for reasons I don’t know anything about as a mere hobbyist.

Jamey from Stonemaier recently (14/01/26) wrote on the BGG forum that they will add 25 cards from each expansion to BGA :D ;

"For Wingspan expansions, the plan is to put a sampling of 25 bird cards for each expansion on BGA. That way people can experience the feel of each expansion's birds without entirely replacing the tabletop game there. A developer is working on that, but I don't have a timeframe."
