No worries; I segued a bit abruptly.
I wish I knew what causes it to happen. Part of the reason I mentioned Terraforming Mars is that I help manage the bug forum page for that game, and so many of the posts are about this exact problem, and there's just nothing I or the developer can do about it. I want to be able to help people out of that situation, but I can't.
