The Pax series of games is one where the players are expected to make deals and work against whoever is in the lead. This sounds like a kingmaking situation, where a player who can't win gets to decide who wins. The Pax series is essentially "Kingmaker: The Game". If kingmaker scenarios bother you, then you probably shouldn't be playing Pax Renaissance.

I’m not OP but I can totally understand where they’re coming from. Kingmaking is part of many games, and that’s another discussion. This is not so much about kingmaking or bashing the leader - neither of these needs players communicating with each other- but about one player helping a third in a 3 p game in order to beat another player by telling them what to do. Imagine you’re up against an expert and an average player, except that the expert tells the average player what to do on every turn (yes, I know it was just one turn, but where to draw the line?). I read the Pax Renaissance rules because it’s a game I’m interested in learning anyway, couldn’t find a single reference to pacts or discussing strategies. As I’ve stated previously in this thread, in Pax Pamir, these things are mentioned in the rules, so what happened to OP would definitely have been ok in Pax Pamir. The Pax games have similarities, but they also differ in numerous aspects.

Making deals in Pax Reneissance? First time I hear that and I play this game quite a lot, but maybe in a wrong way? Can you give me an example of what kind of a deal I can make with other player?
