How to view results of and see my previous tournaments?

The gold star shows up for every tournament you interacted with in some way. There's a "show all tournaments" button that appears at the bottom of the list. If you click on it, it'll show finished tournaments you didn't participate in.

I looked at my own results. If you make the final table of an elimination tournament, it doesn't show the gold star. That's probably a site bug.

If you look closely at the screenshot Matt gave, you should note that the filter is set to finished tournaments that he'd registered for, i.e., interacted with in some way. Yet there are no gold stars for most of them. I also wrote above that in my list none of my finished Swiss tournaments had gold stars. If every tournament that you've interacted with is supposed to have a gold star, then that's a pretty pervasive bug. Or the gold star means something entirely different.

This is consistent with the explanation I suggested upthread: that the gold star (plus the notation "You participated in this Tournament") is for tournaments that continued on after you were eliminated.

That's probably a site bug.

I wouldn't call it a bug, exactly. But it's certainly a non-ideal way of presenting the information.

I think it should show the gold star for every tournament you participated in, but due to site errors it's being left out for some tournaments. I still sometimes see the gold star for a tournament I won.
