So, backgammon is a match to 7 points, and one game could be worth 1 or 2 points? And it's an option to offer to concede the current game for one point, which may or may not be accepted by the other player, depending on whether that player thinks a +2 is attainable rather than accepting only a +1? Am I understanding this correctly?

An individual game could even be worth 3 points if you get a backgammon (clearing all your pieces off the board while your opponent still has one on the bar or on your home table). And we haven’t even brought in the doubling cube; using it, a game could be worth 2x or 4x these values (or more, if you’re playing to more than 7 points). But otherwise, yes, that is correct. And as with chess, this conceding is common and customary.
