Considering the post references "we don't know what to do" and "without network probably", it's pretty clear the point of view is from the Iranian side. The issue being known external events causing technical issues. We're not talking an individual player having unverifiable issues.

To be clear, I was hoping that the BGA staff would make the decision to close the games with Iranians players offline for several weeks, without any player having a penalty.

What was clarified? I guess I missed that part

I'm not sure what we are supposed to get from your "contribution" here... yes in the post titled "Iranian players" I think you're probably right and it's Iranian players the OP is talking about. Beyond that, the rest of your comment is speculation. How did you determine the problem is technical issues caused by known external events? Do you have friends in Iran who told you their internet is down?

I check the context. The thread talks about Iranian players being offline for 20 days, likely about network. That would imply the topic is about issues in Iran. You wouldn't even need knowledge about it beforehand, once you've established the prior concern is Iran related, a quick search to see what might cause these sorts of issues in Iran should give you an idea.

The OP is a player with an overtimed opponent with the Iranian flag. When you have a good reason to believe a player is having issues preventing them from playing outside of their control, it doesn't feel great to decide to kick them. Extrapolate how this goes beyond a single player and here we are.

I think part of the hangup might be some notion that because there are hostilities like the entire country's internet is bad? Or something like that? But that's not the case. All those assumptions you keep making are still just assumptions. Just because someone is in Iran doesn't mean they can't play BGA because internet bad because war, if all this still doesn't stick I dunno what else to say

Ceaseless said "a quick search to see what might cause these sorts of issues in Iran should give you an idea." It has been widely reported that the extant Iranian regime is disabling Internet communications to 1) disrupt people from organizing against the regime, and 2) limit information about conditions there from getting out. Some information gets out because people are resourceful, but I would expect playing on BGA is a low priority for anyone who is able to use what according their government is an unlawful connection.

Oh absolutely that's possibly what's happening for these specific BGA players. But it's still assumptions you are right about Persians being resourceful tho 100%, almost all of them under 40 all use VPNs so they can do what they want haha

If you think simply using a VPN avoids these issues then you either haven't looked into it deeply (or even superficially) or you're trolling. I'm going with the latter.

I'm not trolling but sometimes I do get pretty stupid. But I don't know anything about VPNs; here I'm just repeating what they all told me
